Today was a DAY!!!

I have to admit, I am glad today is almost over, lol. I won't go into details about the issues I have had to deal with.........so instead, I am going to do something positive. A sweet note to end my day on, if you will.

First, I would like to draw attention to my friend Molly and her blog, Molly's Country Memories Home Place , where she has posted her awesome edition of one of my gingers on a notebook for her granddaughter. I am so proud of the wonderful job she did!!! Click on her blog name and it will take you to that post. Check out the rest of her blog while you're there!

Ok, I have never been a frilly frufru kinda gal, but when I was wandering around etsy again, searching under OFG listings , I came across MarionBerry Cottage's most gorgeous listing of a Valentine pillow (click on the picture to see more views). I absolutely love the graphic she used on the pillow and matching tag, and love the colors!! She has a bunch of beautiful items in her shop...........you have to check it all out!! She also does blog backgrounds and shop banners in her store, Cottage Garden Banners , and sells "vintage trappings, supplies and more" at her CartePostale shop. This is one lady that may be able to convert me to what I used to consider "frilly", LOL!!

Ok, guys......while I was aimlessly browsing around etsy the other night to see what was being offered for Valentine's Day, I decided to look and see what Kim from Folk Art from the Heart had in her shop. I have to say that she has the absolute cutest creations, each one with so much personality! Well, this is a time for thinking about the past year....what we wanted to get accomplished, what we actually got accomplished, and what we are determined to get accomplished this next year.

This past year has been a rough one, but has only made me more motivated and determined to get things under control. One thing I would really like to improve on is the amount of posting on this blog. I would like to start promoting other artists from my groups...Old FarmHouse Gathering, CaaT, and Folk Art Fans. And since one of my BIG goals is to create and paint way more throughout the year, I will post more often about the new ideas and creations I come up with.

Of course, I will be doing all this working around my new work-out schedule at the gym, and writing out menus so I can start eating better...............I'm sure that all sounds familiar??? No, really, I'm gonna do it, really I am!!! LOL!

Coming from Las Vegas, you would think that winning was no big deal and a regular thing for me, huh? Wrong!! I gave up slots and any other type of gambling cuz I could never manage to win, and it just ain't any fun if you don't win. My sister, on the other hand, always managed to win some whenever she hit the casinos, but when I gave her money to play with to win for me, do you think she won?? Uh, NO! LOL!

But I won today!! Not $$, but something just as good, in my opinion. Deb, from Deb's Primitive Country Kitchen , had a drawing over the weekend for one of her awesome primitive grungy beeswax cones. And I'm one of the lucky winners!! Thanks, Deb.......I can't wait to get it!!!

Here's my latest creation. Kim, from I Love Etsy, asked me if I would make some of these. Silly me, I had never even thought of it !! Where was my head? Anyway, these are made out of paper mache balls, and I just had to add some diamond dust to the icing for some bling. Doesn't show up real well in the photos......they look much better off camera, lol. Can't figure out how to manage the flash yet.

I will be adding these to my etsy shop soon, selling them in sets.

Well, I have made it through two craft shows so far, the second being the most dramatic by far. It rained the night before and the first day, resulting in two collapsed canopies, running to stores to replace them, setting up late, but all in all it wasn't too bad. I sold enough of my larger items that I have to get busy replacing them, and yesterday I managed to start a new item that was finished today, and I absolutely love it!! So, of course, I need to show it off, LOL!

Yes, if you count in the last picture, you will see that there are 6 deer this time!! There was one baby, 1 or 2 small males, and the rest looked female. I love seeing wildlife in my backyard, but hopefully won't see any scary ones!!

Well, yesterday morning we got up to the sight of our cat sitting at the sliding glass door to the back deck, trying desperately to get at something that was outside. This is what we saw. First they were all just standing around, but the pics I took didn't turn out. These pictures were taken about 30-40 minutes after we first saw them out there. I thought they had all left and went back inside, but no, they were still there and had made themselves very comfy, LOL. So out came the camera again, and I made very sure that these pics came out. Enjoy!!

Wow!! Talk about a whirlwind of activity and chaos! God is truly amazing! He has answered sooooo many of my prayers, and those of the wonderful people that have been praying for me and my boys the last few weeks.

The boys and I are now in a "new" home........not settled yet, but moved in. All of this happened in the space of less than 2 weeks, and only happened by the grace of God. We are out of the old mobile home we lived in that was causing health issues and financial issues, and into a wonderful house that has actually been sitting vacant for several months. I believe that God was holding this house for us for just this perfect time. I don't expect it to be easy sailing from this point on, but I know that God will get us through anything that comes up. These verses say it all:

"Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?...Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?"
Matthew 6:25, 6:27 (NKJV)

Things don't always go as planned...........

I had every intention of posting links to all the treasuries that OFG members have snagged showing off all the Challenge entries, but my life has just been way too crazy these last couple of days, and I know the treasuries are just about to expire.

God is opening so many doors right now for me and my boys to get into a different house, it is just incredibly amazing! Something that seems so impossible just starts falling into place and you know it's only because of His mercy and grace. I will be madly packing my house up in the next week and a half........the world's fastest move, LOL! Hmmm.....wonder if Guinness has any records for that?? I will hope to keep my blog updated, but we'll have to see. I just pray that He will keep opening doors until this move is complete, but His will be done.

Beauty Rising Above Destruction.........

Aren't these pictures gorgeous? My sister took these from the local lake, Lake Paradise, last week when we were all fearing that our whole town would have to be evacuated due to a huge fire. You wouldn't think that when looking at them, wouldja? At first glance, they look like pictures of a beautiful sunset. I guess there really is beauty in everything.

Life has been interesting, to say the least. Believe it or not, my last post was actually posted today, but it shows the date that I saved it as a draft. My life has been full of fires, car repair, computer repair, home searching........I'm ready for it to be boring for a little while.

As I posted previously, I am having to trust God completely in so many areas, and it isn't easy. But He has graciously provided so much for me and my boys so far, I have every reason to believe that He will continue doing so, even when it seems hopeless. There were so many prayers going up about the Humboldt fire last week, and I firmly believe that He saved us from it, and kept it from causing more damage and harm than it did.

God is an Awesome God..........

My life has been having to revolve around the saying in this picture for the last month or so, and believe me........it sounds easier than it is!! I have been very overwhelmed with life lately, and have neglected so many things that I have wanted to keep up on, this blog being one of them. But I know that God has a grand plan for me and my boys, and although I have no idea what it is, and very little to no patience to wait for it, I will trust Him to come through with what is best for us. In the meantime, I am going to do my best to take care of what I can, get control of what I am able to get control of, and be thankful for what He has provided for us already.

Tribute to MotherHood Challenge ~ OFG

Today is the day that the Old FarmHouse Gathering submitted entries for the Tribute to MotherHood challenge. Trust me, they are all awesome!! So far we have 2 treasuries showing off some of them. The treasury I snagged is called OFG Special Tribute to Mom , and the other one is OFG Challenge Mother's Day Loves , by Alice of WillmasWimzees. All of the entries can be viewed at the Old Farmhouse Gathering blog to be voted on by the public starting on the 27th.

But, of course, I have to show off my personal entry here, LOL! I painted a Terrye French design on this tin bucket and added a lavender bath n body gift set. It's available in my shop for $39, and includes a full-sized shower gel and body lotion, along with a 10 oz handpainted bar of lavender-scented soap.

My mom also created a wonderful flower garden patchwork quilted wallhanging, available in my shop for $18. Both of these would be perfect for that special mom in your life, and I know would be much appreciated!!

Time flies!!

Well, it looks like another week has gone by. Unfortunately, I can't say that time flies because I was having fun! I don't know exactly where the time goes, but I wish it would just slow down enough so I can get something done. I did get a couple of items finished, finally, LOL! I was in a very spring-y mood and decided to do a paper mache plate in a gorgeous light victorian teal background with a daisy chain and some ladybugs on it. I have it listed right now on eBay, under paintingkreations4u . I am very happy with how it turned out. I also finished a pair of gingerbread soaps in a matching wooden tray that an etsy seller friend of mine requested. Silly me, I had never even thought of doing my gingers on soap! But they turned out cute, so be watching for more!

The next 3 weeks will be busy with out-of-town doctor appointments for my youngest son, so I'm not sure how much I'll get done. But stay tuned........I'll do my best to keep up-to-date.

See what happens when you don't post as often as you should? You get tagged, LOL!! Tammy, from RockRiverStitches, has tagged me to share how I got my name.

Well.........I started selling on eBay in 2005, and knew I needed to come up with a creative name. I wanted to do Kris's Kreations, but that's too many ssss's together, and since I do strictly painting (right now, anyway), I decided to go with PaintingKreations4u as my eBay name, and for etsy and my blog, shortened it to PaintedKreations, with a K because my name starts with a K, and it's just a little bit different. Of course, I didn't realize that using a K would cause some confusion, but that's ok........someday I will be well-known enough that people will automatically know how it is spelled, LOL!!! So, there ya go.......nothing fancy or spectacular, but I kinda like my name, and that's what matters.

So, now I get to tag 3 more people, which I promise I will do tomorrow when I have more time to investigate who it should be. Watch out! You never know........it could be YOU!!!

I keep looking at the date at the top of the posts, and more and more days keep passing before I get another post in! Help! My excuse, as always, is having to run around taking care of kid bizness, like karate, school meetings, etc.

Well, today is Friday already. My plans were to paint most of the day. Do ya think that happened??? Of course not! I had to run errands while the boys were at their dad's, the only time I get to myself.........Fridays. Shopping without items being thrown into the cart, unnoticed until they get bagged, no boys asking "can we get this????"........yippers, you better believe I'm gonna take advantage of it! But I did manage to hit a yard sale where I scored 4 large cabinet doors, perfect for painting on. I also got a tin canister set for 50¢, not that I need any more canister sets! But I just couldn't pass it up.

I did finally get one item (out of about 5) finished and added to my etsy shop........yippee!! I love how it turned out. Very shabby, cottage-y prim, etc. I have an awesome birdhouse that I am desperately trying to finish that is done in basically the same colors, and also some other items. Kind of a collection going. Stay tuned to see those listed, hopefully within the next couple of weeks.

On another note, I was also able to snag another treasury showcasing the OFG sellers, called Angels in the FarmHouse. There is also another one by Carol of DaysGoneBy called Sheep'er By the Dozen. Be sure to check them both out!! The Angels treasury ends on Sunday, and Carol's ends on Monday.

Ever have one of those days???

Well, I did yesterday, and it looks like it's carrying over to today. Oh yay. My oldest boy, who will turn 12 on April 20, decided to do some time-travelling back to the age of oh about 5 or so. Don't know what brought it on, but take it back please!!! Luckily I can't even remember the details, but I do remember that he spent a good portion of the day telling ME what he was and was not going to do. Consequently, he had to deal with the "cruel and unusual punishment" (his words, LOL) of having to go to bed at 7:15 pm. Today didn't start out much better, but I am going to deal with it better. I am going to go conveniently and selectively deaf, and oh boy, is that going to drive him crazy!! And to top it off, there seems to be an issue with sites being down.......sites that I would really like to get into. Like etsy, my mail, my forum............. Nothing like adding salt to the wound, LOL! But I'll get over it.

On a more cheerful note, I managed to get a corner of my living/craft area cleaned!! YIppEE!! That only leaves 3 more corners and the middle.........hmmmmmmm. I still have a whole bunch of UFOs on my table....and my floor.......and my other table. Does anyone else have this problem???? I know, does anyone want to challenge me in any way? Maybe get a fire burning under my fanny? Anyone, anywhere?? I'm up for it........I've always done better under pressure. I'll be waiting..............lemme have it!!!

Well, another week is past, and another one begun. My days just seem to keep flying by, and all my good intentions fly by right with it! My goal with starting this blog was to post something every day and so far that hasn't happened. But life has a habit of happening, no matter what.

Life in my etsy world was exciting yesterday and today. I sold some items, finally! And today I managed to snag another treasury featuring Old FarmHouse Gathering sellers. It's called FarmHouse Blues .........go check it out! We are a group that has been growing and growing and there are a ton of things being offered. Well, here it is Thursday, already......where has my week gone?? It's like I blink, and bam, there goes another day!

It's been a couple of days since I've posted anything, but Sandra from BabyCakesDesigns has been busy, LOL! She tagged me to write a 6-word memoir of my life. Now, don't get me wrong, 6 words is a whole lot better than trying to write an essay, but you're looking at someone that takes a long time to figure out what to write and how to put it on "paper". My 11-year old son is fussing right now about having to write a 3-4 paragraph essay about his spring break..........think he takes after me???

I've been trying to figure out if there is a comical or lighthearted 6-word memoir I can come up with, but I am having no luck. So, here goes..........strong, only because God knows best. My life, for the past 6 1/2 years, has been very painful, strengthening, enlightening, and I really wouldn't trade it for anything because it put me back into a relationship with God, something I had put aside. I mentioned earlier that my youngest boy, now 9, has leukemia and had a stroke, 2 months before he turned 3. God had, and still has, everything under control, and that was His way of letting me know that I needed to give Him complete control. I will never forget what a dear friend told me......."you can ask God WHY??? or you can realize that He trusts you to take care of this child through everything that will happen." Sometimes I still think, "please God, don't trust me so much!! I'm not as strong as you think I am." But every time someone asks me how I do it, or praises me for being able to go through so much, I realize that I am stronger than I think I am, and I know it's only because of God and His knowledge of me and my abilities.

So, now I have to tag 5 more people. I had a hard time last time finding 5, but I'm going to branch out and be braver this time, LOL! So here are the rules:

This time of year is always hard for me. I desperately want to get busy spring cleaning so I can find all my painting projects that need to be finished, but I also want to get my half-finished projects DONE and moved out, LOL! Oh, the dilemma!!! I guess I will just take it one day at a time, and see what happens.

Ok, guys, I really have no idea what I'm doing, but here goes. As I said yesterday, Cora from Hidden Riches from Secret Places has tagged me, so that means I am to tell everyone 5 things about me. Which should be easy, since I am new to the blogging world, hee hee!! Then I get to find 5 more people to tag. Let's see........

1. I'm a single mom of 2 boys, the youngest has leukemia (in remission since 2001) and is suffering the after-effects of a hemorrhagic stroke (also in 2001).
2. I'm a fraternal twin......we don't even look like sisters!
3. I have no brothers and had the first boys in our family (never got the girl I've always wanted)
4. I am not a talker.....I would much rather listen to people
5. When I eat a 3Musketeers bar, I eat the chocolate off the outside, and then enjoy the inside.

Whew!! That was harder than I thought, LOL! Now I need to go find 5 lucky people, hee hee hee!!! Let's start with.....

Another day, 2 more finished!!

Well, today was another busy day, but I managed to finish two more items! I had some candles that I had started painting, oh I don't know how long ago......or else I'm just trying to ignore the fact that it was a LOOOONG time ago. I think I was kick-started into finishing them by the fact that I was told that a friend of mine wanted to check out my etsy shop to buy something for his wife. Well.....I don't have a lot listed right now that would be fitting. So, I frantically started searching for something that was sooooo close to being done, and here ya go..... Above is the front of one of the candles, and here's the back......

This one just has a picture on one side.

It feels so good to get things done, and this blog is definitely a push in the right direction for me.

Also, Cora, from Hidden Riches from Secret Places, has so kindly initiated me into the world of blogging by "tagging" me, LOL! But that will have to wait until tomorrow when I am more awake and can figure out what I am doing. I just didn't want her to think I was forgetting!! I promise, Cora, I am not avoiding it!! Well, by george, I did it! Of course, there wasn't a whole lot left to do, but I finished something! Wahoo!!

So now that leaves the question........what shall I finish next? I have a canister set to finish, some spring items, an awesome birdhouse........... Can you tell my brain is crowded? I start so many things and have a hard time staying focused. I'm SURE nobody else has that problem, right??

I'm sitting here, looking at this blog, wondering what in the world to post.......knowing that I shouldn't even be here at the computer. I should be at my craft table, finishing at least one item that is laying there. My goal is to finish the Easter bunny gingerbread magnet.........after all, Easter is next weekend! So, there he lays, waiting for some sparkle and color to be added to his egg. Do you think I'll manage to get him finished by tomorrow? Stay tuned.............
